Fund the cure.

Three of our four children live with SMA-PME. There is no approved treatment, but there is a path to a cure, and it can be funded. Your gift goes to the research that builds it.

Three steps, no detours

Where your gift goes

Every dollar is handled by Cedars-Sinai, not by our family or any other. Our family never touches the money. We only point it at the science, so we can fund this cure.

Step one

You give

Through our page on Cedars-Sinai’s official giving site. Card payment, secure, no account needed.

Step two

Cedars-Sinai receives it

Guerin Children’s Advancement office processes the tax-deductible payment and sends your acknowledgment and tax receipt directly.

Step three

It reaches the research

Funds are directed to Dr. Michelle Allen-Sharpley’s fund for the SMA-PME therapeutic program at Guerin Children’s.

What happens when you click Give

  • You’ll leave this site and land on Cedars-Sinai’s own giving site (support.cedars-sinai.edu).
  • The page you land on is our own fundraising page there, with our story and photo on it.
  • Cedars-Sinai (not our family) processes your payment, issues your receipt, and stewards the fund for all families facing this disease.
Make a gift

Every gift moves the first real treatment closer

There are roughly thirty people in the world with this disease. A small number of donors can genuinely change its outcome.

Progress

Where we are

$1.9M raised toward the $6M goal

The Los Angeles Firemen’s Relief Association was among the first to stand with us, with a leadership gift.

What the money funds

Research toward a therapeutic program for children living with SMA-PME, led by Dr. Michelle Allen-Sharpley at Guerin Children’s. Her program holds an NIH cooperative award (U01) and a place in the NIH’s URGenT network for ultra-rare gene-based therapies, and the technology behind it might one day help families facing other neurological and genetic conditions.
